２月６日（ブルームバーグ）：トヨタ自動車は、米民主党に太いパイプを持つ企業を起用し、ワシントンでのロビー活動強化に動いている。同社は大規模なリコール（無料の回収・修理）の発生に伴い、複数の訴訟や批判に直面している。
トヨタは、ワシントンに拠点を置くグローバー・パーク・グループを起用。同社のプリンシパルにはクリントン政権で大統領報道官を務めたジョー・ロックハート氏、クリントン元米大統領のシニアアドバイザーだったジョエル・ジョンソン氏が名を連ねる。
ロックハート氏は、トヨタがグローバー・パークを起用したことを認めたものの、同社がどのような活動を行っているかについては言及を避けた。トヨタの愛知県豊田市本社への取材に対してこれまでのところ応答が得られていない。トヨタがグローバー・パークを起用したことは、米紙ウォールストリート・ジャーナルが最初に報じていた。

２月９日（ブルームバーグ）：世界最大の自動車メーカー、トヨタ自動車は、同社の車が急加速する問題に関連した米国でのリコール（無料の回収・修理）をめぐり米政府と議会の調査に直面する中、そのロビー活動予算は米自動車業界で屈指の規模となっている。
上院が開示した資料によれば、10年前の同予算は68万5684ドル（約6100万円）にすぎなかったが、昨年は520万ドルと７倍強に増加。ビッグスリー（米３大自動車会社）の一角、クライスラー・グループを上回った。
ニューヨーク大学ワグナー公共政策サービス大学院のローガン・カーシュ副学部長は「トヨタはロビー活動のやり方を迅速に学んで、他の大半の外国メーカーの先を行っている」と指摘。「トヨタは資金を戦略的に活用しているほか、法制化や規制案に関して疑問や懸念が生じた場合は少なくとも話を聞いてもらうことができる」と説明した。
トヨタと米道路交通安全局（ＮＨＴＳＡ）のリコールに関する処置が適切だったかに関して、米議会では少なくとも３つの委員会が公聴会を計画している。
トヨタは先週、ロビー活動のてこ入れを図り、グローバー・パーク・グループを新たに起用した。グローバーの経営陣の一部はクリントン政権で要職に就いていた。

これから先、ゆうちょ銀行が米国債を買う余力などないことは百も承知。
その上で「中国みたいなことだけはするなよ」との日本への警告か。
ギリシャを刺激し欧州を揺さぶる。いよいよ次は中華料理。
