天皇、皇后両陛下「・・・・・・・」



ＫＣとはカート・キャンベル（Kurt M. Campbell）のこと。
来日したキャンベル米国務次官補（東アジア・太平洋担当）は核の傘に関する日米定期協議開催で合意。

実はキャンベルは日本に来る前にハワイで天皇、皇后両陛下と会っていました。
はたしてハワイで冒頭のようなやりとりがあったのでしょうか。

その真相が明かされるのはまだまだ先のこと。
今はまだ私の憶測に過ぎない。
しかし、昭和天皇の戦後を振りかえると、今もまたその可能性は決して０とは言い切れないのです。

１６日訪日の米次官補　「どんな政権とも協力」　幅広く会談の意向

　アメリカのオバマ政権で対日政策の実務責任者を務めるカート・キャンベル国務次官補は、日本で行われる総選挙について、「アメリカは、日本のいかなる政権とも協力する用意があることを伝えたい」と述べ、１６日からの日本訪問では、民主党を含め、政党関係者と幅広く会談する意向を示しました。

　東アジア・太平洋地域担当の国務次官補として、オバマ政権の対日政策の実務責任者を務めるキャンベル次官補は、１６日から就任後初めて日本を訪問します。

　これを前に、ワシントンの空港でＮＨＫの取材に応じたキャンベル次官補は、日本の政治状況について、「明らかに重大な局面にある。日本訪問では、アメリカ政府が、いかなる政権とも協力していく用意があることを伝えたい」と述べ、民主党を含め政党関係者と幅広く会談する意向を示しました。

　また、キャンベル次官補は、来日に先だち、日本時間のあす、ハワイを訪問される天皇皇后両陛下を現地で出迎えることについて、「お２人をオアフ島に案内することをほんとうに光栄に思っています。陛下にハワイのおもてなしを楽しんでいただきたい」と述べました。

　さらに、キャンベル次官補は、日本訪問の後、タイのプーケットで開かれるＡＲＦ（エーアールエフ）＝ＡＳＥＡＮ地域フォーラムに出席する予定で、これにあわせて北朝鮮問題を協議するため、日本や中国など関係国と５か国協議の開催に向けて調整を進めていることを明らかにしました。

HONOLULU - THE Japanese emperor and empress are expected to revisit some old memories when they arrive in Hawaii on Tuesday for a three-day stay.

Emperor Akihito, 75, and Empress Michiko, 74, are headed first to Waikiki's Kapiolani Park to see a rainbow shower tree they planted when they came to Hawaii as crown prince and princess in 1960.

The couple planted the tree to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the US-Japan relationship. Then-Prime Minister Shigeru Yoshida and Princess Takamatsu also each planted shower trees in the area that year.

Their foray into the park, which is one of Oahu's most popular, will be the only public event during their stay.

Governor Linda Lingle is expected to meet the couple at Oahu's Hickam Air Force Base when the royal couple flies in from Vancouver, British Columbia where they wrapped up an 11-day trip to Canada.

Admiral Timothy Keating, the head of the US Pacific Command, will also greet the couple along with Kurt M. Campbell, the assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs.

On the Big Island, the couple is due to be feted with hula and a chant entitled 'Welcoming the Rising Sun,' that's been composed in their honour.

But the main reason they're here is to mark the 50th anniversary of a scholarship Hawaii residents set up to commemorate the couple's wedding in 1959.

The scholarship, which has funded the studies of than 130 people since the 1970s, sends University of Hawaii graduate students to Japan and brings Japanese students to UH to study.

Dozens of former scholarship recipients who are now college professors, historians and scientific researchers, will be on hand to celebrate with the royals at a dinner banquet on Wednesday. -- AP
